The submissions will be judged by an expert panel consisting of: Scott Kern, Owner & Attorney, franchiselawsource.com, Leslie Lawrence, Director, NY/NJ Franchise Expo, Terry Corkery, Founder/Owner, franchiseworks.com and Tom Romano, VP of Franchise Development, Original SoupMan. The winner will be announced by hall of famer, Reggie Jackson at the show's opening April 18, 2009 at the Meadowlands Exposition Center.

Right now may the best time to get into business. Most recessions last an average of 10 months, followed by growth cycles that last an average of 50 months. This means, there's no better time than right now to get going and start pursuing your business dreams. This is the right time for fantastic deals in virtually every category, from land and equipment to commercial office space and personnel. Plus, business ownership offers a variety of tax benefits that aren't available to employees. In spite of the current credit crisis, many franchise companies have financing options available to new business owners. By buying into a franchise one buys into a proven concept and exponentially increases their success rate.

New York State's unemployment rate is at 7.8 percent the highest level since June 1993. Latest reports for New Jersey show the rate at 8.2 percent, the highest in recorded history. For many who have lost their jobs, the best business decision is the one you are forced into, and the need for income is often enough to push those previously "on the fence" to start their own business. There's nothing wrong with being in this position; it simply means there is urgency to take action and do something that will generate income as quickly as possible. The beauty of purchasing a franchise is that you are in business for yourself but not by yourself.

The New York / New Jersey Franchise Expo and the Original SoupMan are helping the economy one person at a time!
